MILWAUKEE - The trio of freshmen the Marquette track and field team sent to the 2008 USA Junior Outdoor Track and Field Championships finished up competition Sunday afternoon at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus, Ohio.

Tyler O'Brien, ran strong races in the 100m and 200m but failed to qualify for the finals in either event. In the 100m on Friday afternoon, O'Brien got off the blocks slowly before finishing in 10.92 seconds. Following a rain delay Saturday afternoon, which caused competition to stop for almost three hours, O'Brien ran a time of 22.00 seconds in the 200m preliminaries.

In the men's 3000m steeplechase, Peter Bolgert finished sixth with a time of 9:14.12. The top five finishers in that race managed to record times qualifying them for the World Junior Championships, while Bolgert missed the time by a little over four seconds.

Kristin Pelzel finished seventh in the 3000 meter run with a time of 10:56.07.
