Tampa - The No. 4 seed Marquette University men's tennis team (15-6) dropped a 4-0 to No. 5 seed DePaul Friday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the 2008 BIG EAST Championship in Tampa, Fla.

The Golden Eagles now move into the consolation bracket and will face No. 8 seed Villanova at 8 a.m. Saturday morning. MU defeated the Wildcats 7-0 at home on April 11.

DePaul was able to secure three singles victories to collect the necessary four points needed for the team victory. The Blue Demons earned straight-set wins at No. 1 and No. 2 singles before claiming a three-set win at No. 4.

The remaining three singles matches were all in the third set when the match concluded.

DePaul opened the match by claiming the valuable doubles point. The Blue Demons posted identical 8-5 wins at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions to secure the point. Senior Brett Binkley and sophomore Mark Rutherford were downed by DU's Austin Doerner and Jose Moncada at No. 1 in the first completed match. Niko Boulieris and Trent Hagan were unable to hold off DePaul's Ben Hartman and Adam Williams at No. 3. MU led early in all three matchups.
