Marquette Volleyball Set to Host Three Summer Camps

June 19, 2008

Milwaukee - The Marquette women's volleyball team will host its sixth annual Triplesfest as well as the inaugural Walk for Women's Volleyball on Saturday, June 21 at Veteran's Park, along Milwaukee's Lakefront. Pre-walk activities begin at 9:30 a.m. and the day will conclude following Triplesfest at around 7 p.m.

Triplesfest, a three-on-three volleyball tournament, which has been the primary fundraiser for women's volleyball since 2003, will raise money for the Milwaukee Breast & Cervical Cancer Awareness Program and the 2008 Marquette Volleyball Locker Room Renovation Campaign. The newly added fundraiser, Walk for Women's Volleyball, will occur simultaneously to Triplesfest and will raise money for the same causes.

Triplesfest should be exciting once again this year as 220 participants have signed up as of Thursday morning. Triplesfest check-in begins at 8 a.m., and a captains meeting follows for all team captains at 8:45 a.m. Play is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. for all five divisions (three women's and two men's).

After play gets underway on the courts, the Walk for Women's Volleyball will start with a breakfast at 9:30 a.m. followed by check-in at 10 a.m. The walk itself begins at 10:30 a.m. Following the walk there will be a social where snacks and refreshments will be provided along with special prize drawings.

Occurring adjacent to Triplesfest and the walk is the Milwaukee Art Museum's Lakefront Festival of Arts providing plenty of opportunities for fun and excitement during the day.

Registration for the walk is now closed online but those interested in participating in the walk or donating to the two causes can contact Raftyn Rignell at (414) 288-6094.
